What Prospector's Membership Plans Actually Cover: Gold vs. Platinum vs. Diamond

Comparison of Prospector Gold, Platinum and Diamond membership plan benefits

Prospector's three membership plans, Gold, Platinum and Diamond, all include priority scheduling, a waived dispatch fee, after-hours emergency service and discounted annual maintenance. The difference is how deep the coverage goes. Gold covers the essentials, Platinum adds water testing and a sewer camera inspection, and Diamond adds a whole-home plumbing inspection, virtual diagnosis and the biggest service discount. For homeowners in Fairbanks, North Pole and the Mat-Su Valley, picking the right tier comes down to your home's age, its systems and how many services you use each year.

Here is exactly what each plan includes, based on our current membership page, and how to decide.

Gold vs. Platinum vs. Diamond at a glance

  • Diamond: $74.99 a month or $749.99 a year. 15% off all services.
  • Platinum: $39.99 a month or $399.99 a year. 10% off all services.
  • Gold: $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. 10% off all services.

Included on every tier: priority scheduling, waived dispatch fee ($96 value per trip), exclusive discounts on annual maintenance for boilers, furnaces, AC units and water heaters, and after-hours emergency service.

Platinum and Diamond add: water quality testing ($150 value) and a sewer or drain line camera inspection ($250 value).

Diamond only: a whole-home plumbing inspection ($500 value) and virtual diagnosis, a video call with a technician.

Prices and benefits can change, so check the membership page or ask our team for the current details before you sign up.

What every member gets

Priority scheduling

When a furnace quits during a Fairbanks cold snap, getting moved up the queue can be the difference between heat today and a long wait. Every tier includes it.

The waived dispatch fee

Every tier waives the $96 dispatch fee on service calls. For a household that calls us more than once or twice a year, that alone covers a good part of a Gold membership. It also removes the hesitation about calling for a small problem, so a slow drain or an odd furnace noise gets checked before it turns into a bigger repair.

Discounted annual maintenance and after-hours service

All three tiers include member pricing on yearly boiler and furnace tune-ups, AC service and water heater flushes, plus after-hours emergency service. In a climate where heating can run for most of the year, a plan that makes you actually book the tune-up pays off. Read why in our post on boiler tune-ups before an Alaska winter.

Where the tiers differ

Gold: the essentials

Gold includes the shared benefits above. It does not include water testing, a camera inspection, a whole-home inspection or virtual diagnosis. It suits newer homes with well-documented systems where the main goal is priority service and maintenance discounts.

Platinum: adds diagnostics

Platinum adds water quality testing and a sewer or drain camera inspection. Both catch problems you cannot see. Water quality varies a lot across our area. A U.S. Geological Survey study of well water near Fairbanks found iron above federal drinking water guidelines in a large share of samples, with hardness varying widely from well to well. A test tells you what your fixtures and water heater are dealing with. A camera inspection shows roots, cracks or sags in the sewer line before a backup forces the issue.

Diamond: whole-home coverage

Diamond adds a full whole-home plumbing inspection and virtual diagnosis, plus the top 15% service discount. The inspection looks at supply lines, shutoffs, drains in crawl spaces and basements, and pressure across fixtures, not just the one thing being repaired. Virtual diagnosis lets you show a tech the problem on video before deciding if a visit is needed.

How add-on pricing works

Add-on maintenance gets cheaper as the tier goes up. Current monthly add-on prices on the membership page:

  • Boiler tune and clean, or furnace or AC maintenance: Diamond $34.99, Platinum $49.99, Gold $59.99.
  • Water heater flush: Diamond $19.99, Platinum $29.99, Gold $39.99.

So a home with a boiler, a water heater and an AC or heat pump may find a higher tier costs less over the year once add-ons are counted. Add up the services you actually use at each tier's price before choosing. Annual billing on every tier works out cheaper than paying monthly all year.

Which plan fits your home?

  • Choose Gold if your home is newer, your systems are documented and low-risk, and you mainly want priority scheduling and maintenance discounts.
  • Choose Platinum if your home is older, you are on a well, or you have never had your water tested or your sewer line scoped.
  • Choose Diamond if your plumbing history is unknown, you run several systems and plan to use several add-ons, or you want the deepest coverage and the lowest add-on prices.

Still unsure? Our post on whether a plumbing maintenance plan is worth it walks through the math, and our Fairbanks, North Pole and Mat-Su Valley pages show what we do locally.

Why membership matters more in Alaska

A membership is useful anywhere, but our climate raises the stakes. Heating in Fairbanks and North Pole can run for most of the year, so a skipped tune-up shows up fast in fuel bills and wear. Many homes in North Pole and the Mat-Su Valley run on wells, where hard water builds scale in water heaters and boilers. And when a cold snap hits, call volume jumps, which is exactly when priority scheduling earns its keep. A plan that nudges you to book maintenance on time, test your water and scope your sewer line before winter turns small problems into planned fixes instead of emergencies.
